The Fabtech “Desert Thunder” project vehicle was put together to showcase some of the higher end products that Fabtech has to offer for the Ford Super Duty. This truck features multiple upgrades that include engine upgrades, body mods, a custom paint job, interior refinements, an audio/video system, and much more - however, it is in the suspension system that makes this truck a monster of it’s own kind.

The foundation of this truck is one of the best bolt on suspension systems that money can buy. The Fabtech 8 inch 4 Link System with a Dirt Logic 4.0 Coilover Conversion upgrade. Using Fabtech’s racing technology and Super Duty knowledge this system is built to perform when you need it most. With a 4 Link system there is no caster change throughout the suspension cycle, providing excellent driveablity with impressive articulation for off-road use. The 4 Link arms attach to a 1/4” thick steel bracket that is fitted into the factory radius arm frame bracket with the lower end of the links attaching to the OE axle brackets. The links are constructed of heavy wall, 2-inch OD DOM tubing with large 1-inch spherical ball endlinks for excellent strength and durability. The 4 Link arms have eccentric cams on the lower links for caster adjustment. This Ford also has a dropped pitman arm and track bar bracket for proper steering geometry with the increased ride height. The track bar bracket and dropped pitman arm are designed to work in the same plane throughout the suspension cycle, reducing bumpsteer. This system also includes a sway bar drop bracket at the frame and billet steel sway bar endlinks with 3/4 inch Heim ends at the axle. By dropping the sway bar at the frame and providing new endlinks, sway control is kept in line with the increased ride height. In addition, the bumpstop expansion brackets use the OE foam cell cushions for excellent travel control.

As mentioned before, to go along with that 4 Link system is Fabtech’s Dirt Logic 4.0 Coilover Conversion. These coilover conversion mounts directly replace the stock Coil Spring buckets with super stout gusseted 1.75” tubing for exceptional strength. This award winning system was developed for the 2005 Ford Super Duty but due to it’s popularity and outstanding performance has since been created for other makes and models and early model Super Duty’s. Don’t think all this truck has to offer is an upgraded suspension. While Fabtech was putting it’s heart and soul into what goes on underneath this truck Fabtech turned to some of it’s friends in the industry to showcase the best they had to offer. Other mods include a custom Audio/Video system powered by a 2,000 Watt MTX Audio System, custom leather interior to match the exterior paint scheme, a custom exterior paint job, Fiberglass flared fenders, custom aluminum fender wells, aluminum diff covers, dual Dirt Logic Steering stabilizers, Fabtech Desert Guard, PIAA Lights, 20” Boyd Coddington Wheels with Custom Fabtech simulated Bead Lock Rings, all rolling on 38” Toyo Mud Terrain Tires.

The Custom Chrome Painted dash houses the
Clarion Head Unit and Icon-TV DVD Player.

Custom Leather Interior matching the exterior paint scheme is found througout the cabin.

A 2,000 Watt MTX Audio System is part of the reason this truck earned it’s name.

Engine upgrades include a 6-Gun System, High Flow Exhaust and Intercooler all from Banks Engineering.

8” 4 Link Suspension System with Floating Traction Bars and Multiple Rear Dirt Logic Shocks.

Dirt Logic Dual Steering Stabilizers help keep this beast in line.
